Addition to Progressive Populist Caucus Working Principles

The Steering Committee of the Progressive Populist Caucus of the Texas Democratic Party has voted 9 favoring, 1 opposing, 2 not voting to add the following statement to the Working Principles adopted at the June 2002 organizing meeting of the PPC:

"complete equality and empowerment of women in all spheres of society, economic, social, and cultural, including but not limited to equal pay for women in all forms of work and guaranteeing unequivocally and without reservation each woman's right to choose, consistent with Roe v. Wade, without impediments or interference and regardless of ability to pay;"

This addition,in part, expressed concern from members of our Steering Committee about the ambiguity in the current plank on women's rights in the Platform of the State Party.
