(CiviCRM is more appropriate. It is a party building and mobilization tool that easily scales to the state of North Carolina or Harris County and could link directly to the Votec database. Why are we fooling with that other crap?)

 

If we do not have Votec/TEAM access in real-time, we are screwed on counter-suppression and just wasting money on the county-wide campaign.

When people ask me how the Texas Democratic Party helps mobilize voters in every precinct across the state, the first thing I talk about is TexasVAN.  The VAN, which stands for Voter Activation Network, is the TDP's online voter file system.  It empowers candidates, county parties and precinct chairs to identify voters and strategically organize their field efforts, from canvassing and phone banking to targeted mail and GOTV.  With the launch of the VAN system in 2006, the TDP took a big step forward.  Now we're taking another one.

Today, the VAN system is shifting into overdrive.

I am proud to announce TexasVAN 4.0, a new and updated version of our online voter file
system that will help Democrats across Texas organize for victory in every district, county, precinct, and neighborhood.  TexasVAN 4.0 is faster, more reliable and easier to use.  It includes a number of new features, from easily customizable voter reports to a vastly enhanced "My Campaign" suite of tools for candidates.  The VAN is also now fully compatible with Firefox and Safari internet browsers. 

But these tools are only as good as the available data, which is why the TDP field staff is working in every county to make sure our Democratic candidates and local parties have the most updated lists of registered voters and accurate voting history information.  With 254 counties in Texas, that isn't an easy task, but the TDP is committed to providing the resources that will give our candidates a critical information advantage next year.
