[Houston PPC] Strategy task force on Harris Co. e-voting and municipal election concerns
As discussed at our last meeting, I would like to to form a strategy task force (I prefer this term over "committee) to address two items regarding our municipal elections:
-- the emerging concerns of voter suppression and intimidation
-- lingering and still urgent issues regarding the integrity of e-Slate balloting; and
-- the abdication of the City of Houston from its responsibility to conduct its elections (the county apparatus, overseen by the Republican county clerk, Bev Kaufman, is a part of the problem we must seek a work-around for)
John Behrman has intimate knowledge of these matters, and I will ask him to make a five-to-ten-minute synopsis of these challenges at a meeting of this task force on Wednesday, May 30
at 6:30 p.m. at Kobain's (behind Chatters) on Heights Blvd. John will only be available to consult the task force, not serve it in any offical capacity, so I would like to have about five or six volunteers from the general membership of the Houston PPC to serve on this task force, as well as one of those volunteers to serve as chair. We'll discuss the strategy going forward at this meeting in order for you to determine your time commitment to this effort.
Please respond to this e-mail by offering yourself as volunteer and attending the meeting next Wednesday.
And thanks for all you do for democracy.
Regards,
Perry Dorrell
