One military note:

The IDF -- a German-type navy -- probably has "Q-ships" on
station in the region which can launch U.S. Tomahawk missiles.
CIHCCENT probably does not have a fix on them.

This would be a "deniable" launch.

The IDF also has three HDW U-Boats similarly equipped. CINCLANT
should know roughly where they are. But, if not, ...

This would be indistinguishable from a US launch.

I think that Bush has quit and that various factions of this
administration are acting independently of any national command
authority. Of coure, the Democratic Congressional Leadership are
in utter disarray as well.
