By Stan - Date: 2002-11-27 09:21:30
Resolution
WHEREAS, The Democratic Party of Texas, under the leadership of its present Chair, Molly Beth Malcolm, and her advisors and consultants, suffered its worst defeat in recent memory in the November 5th election; and
WHEREAS, The Democratic Party of Texas has never won a state-wide election since Molly Beth Malcolm has been the Chair; and
WHEREAS, The Progressive Populist Caucus of the Texas Democratic Party believes that the Texas Democratic Party must have new leadership to meet the present challenges facing the party; and
WHEREAS, In order to provide that new leadership, the Progressive Populist Caucus believes that Molly Beth Malcolm and her advisors should resign their positions within the Democratic Party of Texas.
THEREFORE, Be it resolved that the Progressive Populist Caucus of the Texas Democratic Party hereby requests that Molly Beth Malcolm, in the spirit of Party Unity, call a meeting of the State Democratic Executive Committee as soon as possible, and tender her resignation as Party Chair, so that a new Party Chair can be elected by the SDEC to provide the aggressive leadership that the Democratic Party must have to compete in future elections, including re-empowerment of the SDEC and County Executive Committees for re-mobilization of the Party’s grass roots base.
