This Anti-War Resolution was passed by the Progressive Populist Caucus Steering Committee. We urge members to distribute far and wide.
Resolution Urging Our State Democratic Party To Oppose The Impending Unilateral Invasion Of Iraq
The Progressive Populist Caucus of The Texas Democratic Party opposes the impending unilateral, preemptive invasion of Iraq on the grounds that it violates international law and the intent of the U.S. War Powers Act due to the absence of a proven impending attack on the United States of America.
We urge the Democratic Party of Texas and our Democratic delegation in Congress to join us in calling on the Bush administration to immediately suspend plans for invasion. We urge redoubling our efforts through the United Nations to increase inspections and focus international pressure on Iraq to destroy any existing weapons of mass destruction. We further urge our Party and Democratic delegation to go on record opposing any further sale of U.S. made weapons of mass destruction, especially those which might be manufactured in Texas.
