COLUMBUS, OH -- Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, the son of a Teamster truck driver and the oldest child in a paycheck-to-paycheck family of seven children, brought his life’s experiences and his legislative record to an AFL-CIO town hall meeting in Columbus (OH) today and told his union brothers and sisters, “This campaign is about jobs. It’s about jobs. And it’s about jobs.” Click here for video
“It’s the workers of this country who are going to determine who the president is going to be,” the Cleveland Congressman told the cheering crowd. And that next President, he said, must be committed to creating new jobs, making health care available to all Americans, securing workers’ rights and pension rights, and improving education for the next generation of American workers.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEFriday, July 06, 2007
CLEVELAND OH -- The Kucinich for President Campaign issued the following statement this afternoon:
"It is deeply troubling, but, perhaps, very revealing, when a Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the United States seeks the support of one of the most important industrial labor unions in the nation but refuses to answer questions from the rank and file union members.
"That's what happened today when U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton addressed the United Steelworkers conference in Cleveland. Not only did she not participate in the question-and-answer portion of the program to which all of the Presidential candidates had agreed, but she also completely ignored one of the major issues that has forced millions of union workers and others into unemployment: the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

National health insurance, cancel NAFTA, impeach Cheney, repeal Patriot Act positions get union leaders, members on their feet.
CLEVELAND, OH - Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, the only card-carrying union member among the Party's Presidential hopefuls, drew thunderous, standing-ovation support from about 900 members of the United Steelworkers Union this afternoon as he laid out his plans to guarantee health insurance coverage for all Americans, cancel trade agreements that have eliminated millions of jobs, repeal a federal law that allows the government to intrude into union activities, and proceed with the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney for "lying us into the war in Iraq."

"No other candidate even comes close to taking these kinds of positions," said Kucinich, considered to be one of the prime architects of a plan that resuscitated the steel industry in Cleveland. He is also the only candidate who has called for the repeal of NAFTA, the repeal of the so-called "Patriot Act," and the establishment of a national health insurance plan that eliminates for-profit insurance companies, health care providers, and pharmaceutical firms from the health care equation.

Happy Birthday, America, from Dennis and Elizabeth. Today is Independence Day, the 4th of July. What would our forefathers think if they could see where this nation is today? ... it became clear to me the most overlooked but most cerebral member of the Democratic team might just be Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland.
When he presents himself ... You actually feel he lives in your neighborhood, sends his kids to the same school your children attend and is fighting hard to acquire the American dream, same as you are.
I think that he has a clear-cut, no-nonsense message that is worthy of serious consideration.

"his career voting-attendance record is 97 percent — which would earn him an "A" on any test... it's worth noting that of the ten presidential contenders — Democrat and Republican — who currently serve in Congress, Kucinich has the highest voting record so far this year, followed closely by only Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. And although frequent-voting members like Clinton have private planes that can shuttle them to campaign events between votes, Kucinich's record is much better than other non-frontrunners like Reps. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., and Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., who have missed 16 percent and 31 percent of House votes, respectively."

More than 1000 delegates to the New Hampshire Democratic Convention hear call for peace and job protection
CONCORD NH — Congressman Dennis Kucinich told delegates to the New Hampshire Democratic Convention Saturday that they should stand with members of their local communities on issues of water rights, communication infrastructure, and the privatization of public sector jobs because “the issues here in New Hampshire are national issues as well.”
The Ohio Congressman, running for the Democratic nomination for president, stood before the largest New Hampshire convention crowd in 16 years and urged them to “help New Hampshire help make the World love America again.”
Kucinich focused on three local New Hampshire issues that he said reflect environmental and worker's rights concerns around the country.

There is no doubt about it, 2008 presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, stands out.
Kucinich is the only candidate who wants to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney over the Iraq War; as he did in the 2004 election, he's proposing a Department of Peace, and has introduced a House bill calling for a universal, single-payer, not-for-profit health care system.
